Margaret’s Story
Margaret lives alone in a Housing Association property. She has mobility and mental health problems which have led to a hoarding disorder.
Margaret’s daughter visits everyday but due to a recent accident, she couldn’t see her mum as often as usual. As a result, Margaret’s mental health deteriorated and her home became a health hazard due to the hoarding.
Adult Social Care were able to step in and offer Margaret support but first her home had to be deep cleaned. Using funding from Walton Charity, local charity Walsingham Care was able to pay for the cleaning service so Margaret could start receiving the care she needed.
Walton Charity Delegated Funds are allocated to organisations and local charities, like Walsingham Care, who work directly with people and families across Elmbridge.
Margaret is now receiving regular support to enable her to remain independent and enjoy a good quality of life. She is enjoying spending precious time with her family.
Walsingham Care is one of the local organisations to hold a Walton Charity Delegated Fund. Organisations can use the fund flexibly and creatively to tackle a variety of issues faced by the people they work with.
