Walton & Hersham Foodbank feedback

We spoke to users of the Walton & Hersham Foodbank to find out what they think about our service and ways we could improve. This is what they said.

What our users said….

97% of people we spoke to said they were happy with the amount of food in each food parcel.

100% said they were happy with the quality of the food and 94% were happy with the variety.

91% agreed the food parcels meet their family’s dietary needs and 82% said they fit with their cultural or religious beliefs.

The food we receive is enough for the week, with a couple of tins left over. This is great!

97% of the people we asked said they were happy with the foodbank’s opening hours but some suggested opening at the weekend or offering an afternoon session.

“Sometimes the kids can be a handful in the morning, which makes getting there at a quieter time difficult. If it was open just an hour longer, it would make a massive difference.”

We have since opened a new session on Monday afternoons at St Andrew’s Church, Walton. Find out more about our session opening times here.

More than half of users said they would be interested in getting help with managing debts or maximising benefits while at the foodbank.

We now offer one-to-one financial advice sessions at two of our foodbank locations.

60% of people said they would be interested in a space to sit down for a coffee and a chat while visiting the foodbank. We are looking at reintroducing this to our sessions (where there is room).

More than 88% of users said they were happy with the current foodbank locations but two thirds would be interested in a central Walton location.

“Use local shops in the high street. There are so many vacant shops that this would be a great way to help the community.”

90% said they would also be interested in a community shop offering fresh and other produce at a very low price.

We have recently opened the doors of our new community space The Bridge in central Walton, which offers practical support for local families including a new community shop-without-a-till.

This is a wonderful service. We are very grateful for it as we face a challenging month of reduced pay.
